AVIAN AND EXOTICS CONFERENCE

This conference is designed to help veterinary practitioners meet the challenges of dealing with avian and unusual and exotic pets.
- Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 will be Avian sessions,
- Wednesday 6 will be a combined Avian/Reptile/Exotic day,
- Thursday 7 and Friday 8 will be Reptile/Exotic sessions
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Drs Nigel and Frances Harcourt-Brown.
Both gained their Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons by thesis: Frances for .Metabolic bone disease as a possible cause of dental disease in pet rabbits.; Nigel for .Diseases of the pelvic limb of birds of prey.. Frances is now a Royal College Specialist in rabbit medicine and surgery and they are both European Specialists. They are both experienced international speakers who have lectured all over the world but not yet in Australia. Frances is the author of the best selling Textbook of Rabbit Medicine and Surgery and has produced many published papers on rabbits.
Nigel has kept and bred parrots since he was at school and has written, contributed to and edited many veterinary avian texts (as well as some dog and cat ones).
Frances and Nigel intend to present a set of lectures much of which will be applicable to colleagues in veterinary practice who see birds and/or rabbits in their clinics.
VENUE
Mercure Hobart is located in the city centre, only two blocks from the main shopping mall. The Hotel features Embers restaurant and bar, plus 140 spacious rooms with fresh, modern decor and either city or mountain outlooks. Mercure Hobart is situated only a short walk from Salamanca Place on the historic Hobart waterfront, an area well known for its many restaurants, cafes, bars and the famous Saturday market.
